NARFE supports research to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.  A commitee at the national level has oversight.
The Westsound Recycling trailer in the East Bremerton WalMart parking lot is now gone; the Port Orchard site at 1700 SE Mile Hill Drive is still open and accepting aluminum cans, or extruded aluminum scrap (NO disposable pie plates or foil please). Please state that the aluminum donation is for either the NARFE 181 Alzheimer's Fund or the NARFE 888 Alzheimer's Fund and they will forward the proceeds to the approptiate chapter.  The recycling site is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00AM - 4:00PM.
As an alternative, you may bring your cans to any Chapter 181 General Membership meeting, give them to Rex Tauscher, and he will deliver them to the Port Orchard site for donation to whichever chapter you designate.

"In collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association, NARFE members have donated more than $12 million to the NARFE Alzheimer's Fund.  One hundred percent of NARFE donations are allocated to research.  NARFE is a member of the Alzheimer's Association's Zenith Society, a group of about fifty donors representing the highest level of giving.  NARFE is one of only four organizations belonging to the Zenith Society and, of the four organizations, NARFE is the 'number one' contributor."  (Taken from the NARFE National website)
