These bylaws reflect the change
reducing the number of required general meetings, approved by members in attendance at the March 2008 meeting. They
have been retyped by the webmaster from the scanned photo copy, included below.
BYLAWS NARFE CH.
Section 1 As a minimum, Regular meetings of the chapter shall be
held at least four times a year at such time and place as the membership may decide.
A vacation of not to
exceed three  months during the summer
may be voted by the membership.
Section 2 A quorum shall consist of 8 per cent of the Chapters voting
membership, but less than a quorum may adjourn to meet at a future date, or which due notice shall be given.
Section 3 Special meetings shall be called by the president when
necessary or upon written request of 8 per cent of the Chapters voting members stating the nature for which the meeting is
called. Written notice of all special meetings shall be given to each Chapter voting member at least 7 days before such meeting,
ORDER OF BUSINESS
The following shall be the order of business at all regular meetings of the Chapter:

OFICERS AND COMMITTEES
Section 1 The officers of the Chapter shall be a president, a first
vice president, a second vice president, a secretary, and a treasurer [or a secretary treasurer if it is desired to combine
the latter two officers.
Section 2 There shall be an Executive Committee of which the elected
Chapter Officers shall be the members. The Executive Committee shall exercise
such functions as the Chapter may prescribe.
Section 3 There shall be a Membership Committee appointed by the president. It shall be the duty of this committee to urge all persons in the area eligible for
National membership, as set forth in the National Bylaws, to join the Association and the Chapter. All Chapter members are ex-officio members of this committee.
Section 4 There shall be a Legislative Committee appointed by the president
to keep abreast of all legislative matters concerning annuitants and prospective annuitants and to make recommendations for
action by the Chapter and the National Association.
Section 5 The president should also appoint a Service Officer, a Public
Relations Officer, a Sunshine Committee to visit the sick and look after the welfare of individual members, an Auditing Committee,
and Nominating Committee, and such other committees as may be deemed desirable.
Section 6 The Chapter by resolution require the Treasurer [or Secretary-Treasurer]
to give bond for the faithful performance of his or her duties. The expense of
such a bond shall be paid for by Chapter funds.
NOMINATIONS, ELECTIONS AND INSTALLATIONS
Section 1 At the October meeting the Nominating Committee shall present
a list of nominations for all the offices to be filled. Further nominations will
be accepted from the floor at both the October and November meetings.
Section 2 After the nominations are closed at the November meeting the
election of officers shall be held and decided by majority vote of the voting members of the Chapter present.
The dues of the members for Chapter purposes shall be $4.00 per year.
AFFILIATION WITH STATE FEDERATION
The Chapter shall be affiliated with the Washington State Federation of Chapters, subject to the Constitution and Bylaws
of that body.
The provisions of Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised shall govern Chapter
business in all cases in which they do not conflict with the Chapter constitution and bylaws.
Amendments to these bylaws my be enacted by concurrence of two-thirds of the members present at any regular meeting,
provided due notice has been transmitted in writing to all chapter voting members not less than 10 days before the meeting
